The Epic Battle of Alesia 52 BC allows players to refight Caesar’s epic battle against the Gaul in 52 B.C., on a massive 34″ x 44″ hard mounted board. 10 Roman Legions against dozens of Gallic Tribes equals nearly 400 counters, each 3/4″ big with rounded corners!
The game is Grant Wylie’s reimagining of the Avalon Hill classic, Caesar: Epic Battle of Alesia originally published in 1976.
“The first wargame I ever played was Caesar: The Epic Battle of Alesia. My best friend Dave had gotten it for Christmas and had no clue what it was with the pieces and hex grid. When Dave showed it to me I recognized it as a wargame, similar to what I had seen my dad and uncle played when I was much younger. Thus began my wargaming life. We loved playing the game and spent the summer engulfed in the Gallic rebellion” – Grant Wylie
Inspired by the Avalon Hill title, the concepts have been simplified and clarified to make a smooth playing game that is great for 2 or more players, and the game is very solitaire friendly. With less than 12 pages of rules (see Draft Rules below), you’ll be playing in no time!
